Our story
Four generations of Portuguese baking, on a London street corner.
The recipe travelled from a small padaria north of Lisbon: cold butter, patient lamination, custard poured at the last possible moment. Nothing has been sped up since.
In 1990 the family opened on Golborne Road, next to the Moroccan grocers and the Friday market. Today the ovens run from before sunrise until the last tray goes out — and a second counter serves South Lambeth Road.
